KDPP 2026 Fall Institute

Showing Up: A Kentucky Commitment to Students

Marriott Lexington Griffin Gate Golf Resort & Spa

1800 Newtown Pike, Lexington, KY, 40511

September 15th - 17th, 2026

This year’s institute will focus on statewide priorities, including chronic absenteeism and school safety, and provides attendees with direct access to leaders driving this work across Kentucky.

Jessica Sprick, author of Tackling Attendance Challenges, will serve as the keynote speaker, to help school districts create an action plan to address chronic absenteeism—a top priority in Kentucky for the 2026–27 school year.

The Kentucky Center for School Safety (KCSS) will be on site supporting school safety initiatives.

The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) and its Chronic Absenteeism Team will be available to explore and identify solutions for improving student attendance statewide.

We are also pleased to welcome expert presenters, including Wayne Young, who will provide important updates and guidance on new laws and policy changes impacting DPP responsibilities.

A large networking social event will be held Thursday evening, September 17th, at the resort, featuring professional comedian, Mario McIntyre. This is a great chance for all to connect and build meaningful partnerships in a relaxed setting
